AllMany students struggle with reading. One estimate is that about 30% of Canadian children have difficulties learning to read. The great news is that they can overcome their present difficulties if they receive appropriate and ongoing support. During this workshop you will receive:
- information on best practices in teaching reading
- literacy development resources
- effective online and applications support
- visual literacy pointers
- understanding the non-reader, word caller, turned-off and diagnosed reader
- before, during and after reading literacy strategies for any grade level and subject area
We know that reading is a complex process but by integrating various components of reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, inferencing, summarization, etc.) in everyday teaching, students will see the correlation between prior knowledge and reading comprehension.
Be ready to communicate, collaborate, and create throughout the day.
