This learning opportunity is focused on expanding your knowledge in assessment, interpretation and application. You will gain the necessary skills to select, administer, and score a variety of academic assessments. In addition, provincial standards for psycho-educational assessments will be translated into meaningful classroom practice and instructional decisions. The purpose of this multi-day training will also teach the principles and statistical concepts necessary to complete and interpret Level B assessments to support student learning.

The concepts that will be covered include psychometric principles (test construction, reliability, validity), understanding the normal curve, the use of standard scores, and issues in administering standardized tests.

This session also provides detailed information regarding the administration and interpretation of popular Level B assessment tools. You will be supervised through online assignments and communication with the facilitators following the initial training to provide ongoing support for the administration and interpretation or assessments. As an illustrative example, an assessment protocol from an actual school district will be discussed throughout the session. The overall goal of this session is to use information obtained from Level B assessments, as well as classroom based assessments (Level A) and teacher observation, to support programming in an inclusive learning environment.
