Learning Opportunities

April Prescott is a therapist and educator whose work supports children in a variety of contexts throughout Northern Alberta. As a Canadian Certified Counsellor, April travels to rural and remote communities to provide mental health support for children in foster care. As an educator, April works as a consultant with Aboriginal Head Start and with the Alberta Professional Learning Consortium, and previously taught in a specialized preschool program serving the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Edmonton. Prior to becoming a teacher and administrator, April was an Educational Assistant for 5 years. Most recently, April is a graduate of the NAPA Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship, specializing in relational health for children and their caregivers from birth to age 5. When not working, she enjoys training her sheedogs, Holly and Caddy, playing Dungeons and Dragons, travelling, and volunteering on the Board of Directors for the Edmonton Rugby Union.
