Learning Opportunities

Join the AFWI as we explore the science of brain development using the Brain Story and Resilience Scale, which translate this complex science into an accessible, engaging story-form. This session will explore the Brain Story, a collection of six metaphors developed by the National scientific Council on the Developing Child at Harvard University and the Frameworks Institute that convey key aspects of lifelong development in understandable language with specific focus on how this science can be applied in education. We will also use one key metaphor of the Brain Story, the Resilience Scale, to explain how positive experiences, negative experiences, and skills and abilities interact to influence physical and mental health outcomes, including our capacity for resilience.
