We are all different; we learn differently, we eat different foods, we dress differently, we talk differently, we look different. We don’t always recognize why or how to be respectful of the diversity we encounter…we need to learn how! This session focuses on building the Respecting Diversity Program in your classroom and in your school by giving students the tools they need to highlight their own strengths and to recognize and respect the strengths and differences in others, all while building their own self-concept. In her book, The Three Block Model of UDL, Dr. Jennifer Katz highlights the importance of Social Emotional Learning and that by teaching students (and staff) to recognize and celebrate our differences, we build a stronger, inclusive community!
