Participation in this learning opportunity will enable teachers to assess young writers by relying on pedagogical documentation, using what is learned to inform their teaching practice. Drawing upon the work from her books and practice, Angela will introduce multimodal composition and some frameworks, tools, and resources that will enable teachers to support their students when they return to their classrooms.
Participants will be able to define the varied modes of expression and explain how multimodality is essential to producing high-quality print.
- They will define tangible processes for coaching a multimodal process in their own classroom.
- They will define tangible processes for coaching the development of multimodal compositions.
- They will be able to describe how pedagogical documentation enables equitable assessment.
- They will prototype a mini-unit plan to support a multimodal process and/or the development of multimodal products in their own classrooms.
- They will plan to document student learning throughout this unit.
- They will create assessment and reporting tools to support this work.

Teachers of all grades
