Unpacking the New Math Curriculum – Gr. 5 Fractions
This session will focus on the Organizing Idea: Number, specifically looking at the understanding of the following Learning Outcomes:
· Students interpret improper fractions.
· Students add and subtract fractions with common denominators.
· Students employ ratios to represent relationships between quantities.
This session for grade 5 will focus on understanding the changes, key vocabulary, and how the Knowledge, Understandings, Skills and Procedures work together to help bring understanding to the learning outcome.
Specific strategies for learning and teaching as well as support resources will be shared as part of the learning.
