This session will focus on the Organizing Idea: Number, specifically looking at the understanding of the following Learning Outcomes:
Gr. 4
· Students multiply and divide numbers within 10 000
Grade 5
· Students multiply and divide natural numbers within 100 000, including with standard algorithms
Grade 6
· Students apply standard algorithms to multiplication and division of decimal and natural numbers
This session for grade 4, 5, 6, and combined grades will focus on understanding the changes, key vocabulary, and how the Knowledge, Understandings, Skills and Procedures work together to help bring understanding to the learning outcome.
Specific strategies for learning and teaching as well as support resources will be shared as part of the learning.
In-depth session on-teaching strategies and the use of manipulatives relating to the outcomes will be held on Nov. 23, 2023.
