AllSchool library collections can be a source of wonder, a way to discover new worlds and a place for students to see a
reflection of themselves. The collection is a foundation of learning, challenging young readers with new ideas and ways
of looking at the world, and, with proper instruction, a place for students to practice skills for inquiry and information
literacy. Developing and maintaining a collection that must do so much is an ongoing, cyclical process, with selection,
deselection and display playing equal, critical roles in how students interact with the library.
Join Jessica Knoch and Jocie Wilson of Yellowhead Regional Library to explore the multifaceted work of collection
development and maintenance, with a lens on how to create a welcoming and inclusive collection that matters to
everyone in the school.
