Learning Opportunities

Ted has over thirty years of experience in education across Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Alberta, serving as teacher, principal, superintendent, and instructional leader. His expertise includes learning for transfer, conceptual learning, and the instruction of thinking skills, with subject strengths in K–6 Science and K–9 Social Studies. Trained in Control Theory and Restitution–Self Discipline, he has extensive experience supporting positive classroom management and student behaviour. For more than fifteen years, Ted has also worked with gifted and twice-exceptional learners, developing approaches that challenge and support diverse needs. Kimberly Waugh-Motoska has been an educator for over 35 years. Throughout her career as a teacher and educational leader, Kimberly has focused on ways to enhance student engagement and understanding through research-based teaching and assessment practices. Kimberly has been privileged to mentor, collaborate and connect with educators through her work with various organizations such as the Canadian Assessment for Learning Network, the Alberta Assessment Consortium, ERLC/ARPDC, and as consultant in Assessment and Reporting for ECSD. She is an accredited consultant for the IB Middle Years Programme, and a certified trainer for PowerSchool SIS and PowerTeacher Pro.  

Kimberly welcomes the opportunity to support educators in areas such as:

• Fostering fair and balanced assessment practices
• Building planning and assessment resources
• Co-designing curriculum-based projects, tasks and assessment tools
• Sharing strategies to strengthen teaching and assessment pedagogy
• Blueprinting summative assessments
• Reviewing and discussing features in PowerSchool SIS which impact reporting
• Considering practices (for teachers & school admin teams) within the PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook to ensure fair, accurate assessment and reporting of student achievement.

Chris Zarski has been an educator for over 40 years, and has served as a teacher, principal, supervisor and director and Examiner for Alberta Education. Currently is serving as a Curriculum Implementation Consultant with CARC on secondment from her role as the Director of Instruction and Staff Development for STAR Catholic Schools. Chris has led numerous district wide initiatives, provided over 600 professional learning sessions, and co-authored/consulted on 18 mathematics resources. She is actively involved with the pedagogy of deeper learning, authentic assessment designs enhancing curriculum delivery and the integration of FNMI resources into all curriculums. Chris loves to learn and believes that all students have the ability to learn at high levels. She also believes that teachers have the best profession ever – enlightening new minds and sparking interest in learning!
