Learning Opportunities

For as long as Heather can remember, she has been a teacher in some capacity. She has taught throughout her life in a variety of capacities and across the spectrum. After completing her Master’s Degree, Heather began teaching at Lakehead University - Thunder Bay Campus, alongside Dr. Alex Lawson, in the Bachelor of Education Department. The work of digging into how people (children and adults) learn the key ideas of mathematics and finding ways to support that learning brings her great joy. Heather works with educators on a regular basis to support them to understand the Continuum of Student Development in Mathematics developed by Alex Lawson. Heather's personal areas of interest include the development of multiplicative and proportional reasoning. She could geek out for hours about either one of those topics.
