Each tool in a toolbox serves a particular purpose: A hammer works great with nails, but not too well with paint. Teachers have many tools in their instructional toolkits, but will they always be effective with multilingual learners?
Tuesday Toolkit sessions will explore nine research-based instructional practices to create an inclusive, language rich and interactive classroom. Each session will focus on one strategy that will be explained and modeled with either a Social Studies, ELA, Mathematics, or Science lens. Participants will have opportunities to discuss how the focus strategies could be implemented in their particular subject area.
Sessions 2 through 9 will begin with discussion about how participants used the prior month’s instructional practice in their lessons and what they noticed about student interaction before, during and after its implementation.
