The science of reading is a vast body of empirical research about how reading develops, why some students struggle with reading, and the assessment and instruction that is likely to lead to strong reading outcomes for all students. This series will equip participants with knowledge of key aspects of the reading research, strategies for sharing research with other educators, and a framework for implementing the science of reading so that more students become skilled readers.
Objectives:

- Strategies for sharing research with other educators

- Guidance for implementing structured literacy practices in the K-3 Curriculum

An Introduction to the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy
Objectives
- Explore the definitions of the science of reading and structured literacy
- Understand how the brain learns to read
- Learn the essential components of primary-grade reading instruction
- Consider Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) as the framework for evaluating and implementing the science of reading
Participants can take one session, or any combination of sessions.
