Dr. George K. Georgiou is a professor in the Dept. of Educational Psychology at the University of Alberta and the director of the Reading Research laboratory. His research focuses on reading acquisition across languages and the remediation of reading difficulties. For his research he has received numerous awards and he has been named to the College of the Royal Society of Canada.
Kristy Dunn is a doctoral candidate in Special Education at the University of Alberta. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Kristy brings valued knowledge as a literacy and learning specialist to the work of teachers of reading. She has designed reading intervention programs for both Alberta Education and different research projects. Kristy is currently on the board of directors of the Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta. She has received many awards, including the Alberta Excellence Scholarship and the Social Sciences and Humanities Council Doctoral Fellowship.
