Let’s Plan Together to Create an Inclusive Classroom for Students with Learning Disabilities & Other Learning Challenges (3 part SERIES)

They say, “You’re so patient!”...but really you know it means that you have a good understanding of the students in front of you! 

Once a student has a diagnosis of a learning disability or other learning challenge, what does it mean for them and what does it mean in your classroom? What reading models can work? This series will increase your understanding of learning challenges that students before you may have, what are the research-based instructional strategies that you can use, and how do you implement them in your busy classroom! This is a “work smarter, not harder” series of fortunate events that are meant to build capacity in YOU for your STUDENTS!

Day One March 7, 2022:

  • Reflect on personal understandings and beliefs about teaching students with learning challenges
  • Deepen your understanding of a learning disabilities and review the components of specialized assessments that support various diagnoses
  • Build understanding of executive function

Day Two March 17, 2022:

  • Explore assessment that drives instruction
  • Grouping for Learning in the Inclusive Classroom
  • Look at your classroom: Environment and Timetabling
  • Explore strategies related to instructional planning, and resource selection (e.g., Structured Literacy)

Day Three March 21, 2022:

  • Planning and Sharing - Year Plan, Monthly Plans, Resources, Assessments
  • Reflect on personal understandings and beliefs about teaching students with learning challenges.
