Ashley has 10 years of experience in the field of education and joined Children's Autism Services of Edmonton in 2015. As an Education Consultant, Ashley coordinates educational programming for children with developmental disabilities by providing ongoing training and support to Educational Assistants and classroom Teachers, while coordinating a developmentally appropriate program incorporating strategies and supports recommended by Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Behaviour Consultants. Prior to joining Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton, Ashley was a Program Supervisor with Responsive Children Supports Ltd. overseeing out-of-home placements for children and youth with developmental disabilities and mental health concerns. Ashley has been an instructor at the University of Alberta, teaching courses on inclusion of students with special needs, and performed research focused on the development of school-readiness skills. Ashley earned her Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education from the University of Alberta with a focus on Educational Psychology and Special Education.

AllThis session will give educators tools and strategies to support students with Autism in the classroom. Autism presents differently in every individual person, the goal of this session is to explore changes that adults can make to better support students with developmental disabilities. Participants can expect to leave this session with practical strategies and ideas to try in the classroom right away!
All learning opportunities with the ERLC regional team will focus on the Alberta Education and district priority areas.
