Join High School English teacher and author, Sarah Zerwin -- Point-Less: An English Teacher’s Guide to More Meaningful Grading, -- for this empowering two-part series. As Sarah shares her own journey toward shifting her focus to process and feedback, and away from points and grades, she provides teachers with practical resources, tools and examples. Each 2-hour session will help English teachers revisit and reconsider their own classroom assessment and grading practices.
Prepare to be inspired and challenged as Sarah pushes our thinking around how we might:
- shift students’ attention away from the points associated with an assignment and on to what they can actually learn from an assignment.
- build a greater sense of student agency over their own learning.
- transition to more meaningful assessment with a framework for replacing points with specific feedback, using your same electronic gradebook
- manage descriptive data and feedback
- address obstacles and objections from parents, administrators, and students
- attend to issues of inclusion and equity in our planning for more authentic assessment and instruction
* Please note this session will be recorded for registered participants to view for 30 days after the final session date.
