At every stage of the instructional process, Lumio tools can help teachers engage and support today's students in a hands-on way, from piecing together previous knowledge all the way to formative and summative assessment activities. In this full-day, in-person workshop, we will explore (from student and teacher perspectives) how Lumio can infuse our lessons with interactivity, as well as provide us with tools and resources that can be customized on the fly to best meet the needs of our students. Some of the features we'll explore are:

  • the interface,
  • games templates,
  • customized individual and collaborative workspaces,
  • SMART Response assessments,
  • pre-built templates and online resources,
  • how Lumio integrates with Google Drive, Google Classroom, and SMART Notebook,
  • how Lumio compares/contrasts with other popular tools such as Pear Deck and Jamboard,
  • and more.

This will be a full day comprised of a morning of creative exploration led by Janet, followed by an afternoon of teacher work time and sharing, supported by Janet and Kandis. By the end of the day, the hope is that not only will all teachers have created a Lumio file containing various types of activities to use with their students, but they also will have had a chance to try their activities out with colleagues - in anticipation of what they can do with their students next week!

Agenda:

9:00 am - 10:15 am:  Introductory Lumio experiences - Experience Lumio as a student would by engaging in a Lumio presentation about Lumio

10:30 am - 12:00 pm:  Demonstration of how to build Lumio activities

12:45 pm - 1:45 pm:  Build resources independently, with support from Janet and Kandis

2:00 pm - 3:15 pm:  Regroup, connect and debrief experiences, Q&A, sharing

All learning opportunities with the ERLC regional team will focus on the Alberta Education and district priority areas.
